About

OBJECT A is an infinite poster generator by Norwegian designer Julian Guribye. Its visual grammar is borrowed from Lacanian philosophy: objet petit a, the unattainable object-cause of desire — the thing that keeps us looking. Each mode in the series — Sinthome, L'Autre, Le Réel, Le Regard, Le Semblant, La Coupure — gives form to a facet of that idea: rhythm, rupture, repetition, gaze.

The project owes a deep debt to the brilliant designer Xtian Miller, whose work opened up the neobrutalist poster language it builds on.

Browse the grid, reshape any poster in the editor, and download a print-ready file for free. Every poster is yours.
